Location

Nikau Cave is in Waikaretu, a sheep and cattle farming area in spectacular limestone country. The drive to Nikau Cave is on Highway 22, a scenic and quiet road, and can include a round trip through Port Waikato and past “Weathertop Hollow,” a Lord of the Rings film location.

The address is:  1770 Waikaretu Valley Rd, Waikaretu.

We advise following the directions posted below as we have written these with our local knowledge of the roads. The routes chosen by GPS devices or online maps can be unnecessarily circuitous and result in green faces, extra stops and late arrival. Mobile coverage is intermittent on the trip so it is best not to rely on your phone either.

There are no gas stations near us so we advise coming out with a full tank.

Please book cave tours in advance to help us schedule our tours and coordinate our guides.
