We have been running our café since 2008. Designed to showcase the beautiful natural landscape of the area, it is bordered by a stream and sits below green hills studded with dramatic limestone rocks.
We serve a seasonally inspired menu, sourcing local food where possible. We have large vegetable gardens and a flock of multi-coloured chickens supplying us with multi-coloured free range eggs all year round. There is a range of indoor and outdoor seating.
We roast our own coffee on site (which is also available by mail order, see our coffee page) and serve a range of espresso coffee options.
We love to support small businesses and artisan crafted foods and drinks. We are proud to serve Hakanoa Hand-Made Spicy Chai and Ginger drinks, Mike’s Organic Beer from Whitecliffs Brewery at Urenui, Greenways Juice from Te Kauwhata, Tea Total Leaf Tea, Whangape Grove Olive Oils from Glen Murray and Surveyors Cottage Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir from Glen Murray.
Our menu changes with the seasons; prices usually ranging from $3 for sweet treats, to light meals from $8 – $17. Our pizzas are a staple favourite and are $24. We always try to cater to those with special food requirements and pride ourselves on our flexibility. Many of our menu items can be made gluten free, and we are always happy to check ingredient labels! Please don’t hesitate to ask.
We can make bread to order or include a loaf for you in our daily bake.
We are open for evening meal bookings by arrangement (usually for groups of 10 or more) – please contact us if you are interested.
Enquiries regarding venue hire are also welcome (with or without catering). A small private conference room is available.
We love having concerts, either inside or outside, and would love to hear from any artists interested in performing here.
The café also has an art gallery showcasing a range of work from local artists, including quilting, painting, photography, ceramics, woodturning, cards, flax weaving, jewellery and more.
Dogs are welcome but must be kept under control at all times in consideration of other people.
