Team building with a difference

With the increased acceptance and prevalence of remote work, making time for your team to get together and connect in person is more important than ever.

Your team is one-of-a-kind, so we work with you to design an outing that fits your time, budget and group size. We offer more than just caving, and have a few options available to build your great day out.

Caving

The walk to and from the cave is through a working farm and native rainforest and the one and half hour tour follows the stream which runs through the cave. Most of the cave is open and spacious except for a twenty-metre length, which must be crawled through, some people will get their clothing wet in this section, so you need to bring a full change of clothes.

An experienced guide will lead your group through the cave, will point out interesting features and give you some background on their formation. A wide variety of stalactites and stalagmites can be seen, including giant pillars, fine straws and flowing shawls. The cave has an abundance of calcite formations and many glowworms.

At the end of the cave steps lead up through a beautiful native rainforest. The final leg of the tour comes out onto the farm with wide views and a glimpse of the sea, before returning downhill to the café.

We supply an approved safety helmet and a waterproof torch. In winter there are hot showers available for your group.

Tree planting

If giving something back is a part of your company philosophy you may want to organise a tree planting day! Autumn and winter are ideal to plant trees as they can get established before the next big dry, and it can be a meaningful way for your organisation to recognise Matariki or Arbour Day.

We supply the trees and tools, and take your group through a planting tutorial.

Waterfall walk

As amazing as our cave is, we know it isn't for everyone. The waterfall walk provides a great option for team members that really aren’t comfortable going underground. The 40 minute loop walk take you through native bush to beautiful waterfall, with a pool perfect for paddling and a cool down on a hot day.

Other local activities

Our community is full of interesting people with skills to share. Cooks, weavers, artists and more call Waikaretu home, so if you are interested in adding other activities to your day out let us know and we can see what is available.

A true escape

The cafe building doesn’t have cellphone reception, and while this can be a bit of a pain for us, it means when you get your team together you have a captive audience.

Space and food

Perhaps you are just looking for somewhere different to have a catered offsite meeting. We can do that too.
